Fan-tastic!

Yes, this post is relatively pointless…but it has photos!

Yes, the fan obsession is real and thriving.

Yes, Craig turned on the nursery ceiling fan to “air out the room,” not simply for our enjoyment to see the girls reaction (uh huh…)

And yes, everyone continues to stare at it during feeds, diaper changes, snuggle time and bed time.

Reagan was on the changing table when it started spinning and had this complete look of awe, including the open mouth jaw drop. So funny. All day today today they have been eyeing it at every opportunity. I guess I need a fan in each room.

Emerie likes to ignore me for photos and stare at it. Is she looking at me? No. Lol.

She’s also mildly flipping me (or maybe the fan?) the bird…

Harper is a little less thrilled and a little more hostile toward it.

And yes, if you were wondering, everyone is wearing overalls today. Why? Because it was a beautiful summer day (at least it looks like it from the nursery window haha).

Oh and what is Emerie looking at? Yeah.

This weekend we will strive to have more adventures with them than quality ceiling fan time.

Fan Girls

Can you guess what is the girls’ favorite thing to look at? Is it Mom…? Is it Dad (and his facial hair)…? Is it each other…? Or is it the nursery ceiling fan?!

Well you guessed it…of course it’s the ceiling fan. They absolutely love it and it’s funny. If they are awake and we are holding, burping, or snuggling them in the nursery, they just stare in awe at the fan. Little do they know it actually spins…

Triple Owls

This week we cleaned out the main level of our house so the flooring contractor could install the new flooring from our water line leak. While we were planning to redo the floors eventually; it definitely wasn’t on the agenda for this summer. But now that the new ones are in, I’m really excited!

Anyway, while cleaning things out of the living room, I came across an old owl sculptured piggy bank I painted a few years back in honor of my niece. Looking at it made me chuckle because it’s three owls, one teal, one pink, and one yellow. If you ask me (and you are since I’m writing this!), that is an awful lot like my girls, with Emerie being the littlest and on the top in yellow, Harper in pink and Reagan in teal.

Interesting isn’t it…

Teary Eyes and Chubby Thighs

I wanted to share how the girls were doing at their two month checkup. They are increasing well on weights and if born through singleton pregnancy, would probably all be about 8 pounds.

  • Harper: 9 pounds 3 oz & 21″
  • Emerie: 7 pounds 10 oz & 19.75″
  • Reagan: 8 pounds 13 oz & 20.5″

All have extremely surpassed their birth weights and are growing great.

We planned our day around the appointment, figuring 2 month shots were going to equal some pretty fussy babies for the remainder of the day. Craig went and picked up baby Tylenol and we gave the girls a little before we left. The doctor’s office heat was turned up too far in the exam room, meaning the girls drifted off to sleep in only their diapers as we chatted with the doctor.

In fact, Harper was so content that she went right to sleep and stayed that way until it was time for her shots.

Reagan showed off her head lifting skills and thoroughly impressed the doctor. She tried rolling over as well but doesn’t quite have that figured out at this age.

Emerie watched everything from Dad’s lap with her binky. The nurse was a pro and gave them three shots really quickly, which I found impressive. The girls cried and then we bottle fed them and snuggled until they adjusted. Shots are no fun; I’m not sure if it’s worse for the babies or the parents.

The rest of the day resulted in lots of baby snuggles, with Emerie the fussiest and wanting to constantly be held. A second dose of baby Tylenol helped them sleep for the night and by the time I’m writing this, they seem to be fine and their usual happy selves. We are definitely scheduling all future shots at the end of the workweek, both for our sanity and because triplet appointments take a lot longer!

2 months down, the girls are doing great, and we are excited to see the upcoming baby milestones like reactionary smiling (instead of just gas), better and reciprocating eye contact, and stronger neck muscles!

2 months!

Today marks two months old for the girls. It’s been a trying day, with Emerie pretty fussy and staying awake! We dressed the girls in matching outfits for a quick photo op that Emerie did not appreciate but Reagan and Harper didn’t seem to mind. And the rest of the day was spent at home, with a visit from cousin Tyler and Aunt Janelle, so we were able to get a few things done around the house and fold some laundry while they visited. The girls are almost asleep, so we are off to bed (nap?) before the next feed.
